©A Little Off the Sides (24"x36" acrylic on stretched canvas) It's the day before the first day of school. The sneakers are brand new, so is the T-shirt and the jeans. What better to top it off with than a new haircut? It's pure American genre painting, perhaps a little more direct and less cutely sentimental than say a Norman Rockwell, but nonetheless cut from the same cloth I think.
Unframed............................................................$600.

Soccering © Soccering (12"x24" acrylic on stretched canvas) Like several of my other paintings, this one did one did a stint at the Ohio State Fair. Although they've always been a favorite subject, I have seldom done figure studies. This one has always appealed to me for it's solitary qualities. It too has long been a favorite at art shows.
Thinly framed in lattice. . . . . . . . . . . . . , . . . . .$175.

©Tootin' Tots (18"x24" acrylic on stretched canvas) No, I'm not a music teacher, I teach art. I wouldn't dream of tackling the responsibilities an instrumental music teacher must accept as "part of the territory" in managing a marching/concert band and instructing all ages of students from children like these to teenage musical prodigies. In my opinion, they're some of the most underpaid teachers we have. I don't think my nerves could stand very long the "music" that comes out of these horns as played by kids this age.
Unframed..........................................................................................$175.

©The Bride to Be(12"x24" oil on stretched canvas) Like many of the other works on this page, this is one of the older paintings on my website. It was done sometime in the 1970's as something of a lark. I've been carrying it around to art shows for years, largely because of its size and shape. It's ideal for fitting into tight spaces which might otherwise be left bare between larger, odd-sized works. It's one of the few paintings from this era which I still own.
Framed in lattice.....................................................................$95.

The Headline Hustlers ©The Headline Hustlers (30"x40" acrylic on canvas) No, I'm not old enough to recall a time before newsboys wearing knickers were replaced by vending machines. But I did once have a paper route. Many artists are put off by anything remotely resembling nostalgia. Yet we all succumb to it in one way or another, especially as we begin to get a few years under our belts. Can it be done without sentimentality? I think it can.
Thinly framed................................................................................$475.

The Homeworkers ©The Homeworkers (24"x24" acrylic on stretched canvas) Boy, do I know this scene! Being both a father and a school teacher if it's not my son's homework I'm involved with, it's my OWN. It's not exactly studying by the hearth as Lincoln might have done, but I'm sure there is some "midnight oil" not far away.
Thinly framed..................................................$175.

Surf Sisters ©Surf Sisters (20"X30" oil on stretched canvas) One of the older paintings in the collection this one has always been a favorite with kids. There is a lively, spritely quality that never ceases to make their eyes light up whenever it's displayed
Thinly framed...........................................$150.

My son at Four ©My Son at Four (16"x20" oil/acrylic stretched canvas) This sample portrait might more appropriately belong with the other samples on the portrait page, but there's already an earlier portrait of my offspring there so this one was consigned to the back room. Painted from two photos, the original head was turned toward the shaded side which put it mostly in shadow, so I painted it out and substituted a head from a studio photo which made for a better portrait.
Similar work.....................................................................$300.

Who's on First ©Who's on First (18"x36" acrylic on stretched canvas) Every batter's worst nightmare, a first baseman with an "attitude"--in this case a sort of "over my dead body" attitude. Even Abbot and Costello wouldn't mess with this little hombre. Makes you wonder if this kid's minding first, "What's" on second? I don't know. No, he's on third. Oh, never mind...
Thinly framed................................................................$175.

Wrungs ©Wrungs (22"x28" acrylic on stretched canvas) The family tree has some new wrungs. There is something strikingly modern about this painting. I guess it's the powerful, diagonal perspective which kind of zips the eye straight up to those two sneaker-clad feet hanging out over the edge of this lofty edifice. Wish I'd had one when I was a kid.
Thinly framed in oak.....................................$295.

Hands of Love XIV ©The Hands of Love XIV (16"x20" acrylic stretched canvas) This painting and the one below are the last of a series of approximately 16 paintings I've done over the last 28 years or so featuring the loving qualities of human hands. It is the largest series of paintings I've ever done and I like to think it's a series that will never be completed even though it's been several years since I've added any to it. This and the one below I think would make a nice set hanging side by side.
Thinly framed............................SOLD...................................$175.

Hands of Love XV ©The Hands of Love XV (16"x20" acrylic stretched canvas) Unlike he painting above, this painting offers playful hands, still young, sweet, and tender, but lively and fun-loving. Someday, I'd like to see this entire series hung together in one location, though by now, that's highly unlikely in that most of the series have been spread perhaps clear across the country.
Thinly framed...................................SOLD...............................$175.
